Hello Again. This prodcut review comes out of my being selected as a product testor by the PGA Tour Partners Club. Stike and Swipe is a reusable impact tape. While I tested the one for a putter, the company makes the prodcut for woods and irons also.
The concept here is that the club impacting the ball leaves a mark on the tape corresponding to where the ball struck the face of the club. Placing your thumb on the side of the tape and “swiping” it across the tape resets the tape like lifting the plastic on those old drawing tablets wiped out what you drew.
I like the product because when you see the result of the shot you just hit, you can look at the product and know how close to the sweet spot you were. This will immediately show the cause for the result you got. Using it with the putter and looking at both puts made and missed will give you feedback as to how consistent your putter swing is. I used it for about a month in the golf league and it is still on my putter.
This product was also showcased on the Golf Channel program “Fore Inventor’s Only” and made it into the top 10. It was eliminated when the top 5 were selected. The maker is considering the retail price of $2.70. This may be a good price depending upon the quantity in the pack. The test pack contained 2 and I would not pay more than $1.50 for 2 of them.

Hello Again! This is the final installment of the golf league since it is over. Here are the final results. The first half winners were Kristen and Tom. The second half winners were Shawn and Neva. The combined winners were Brad and Ron. Low round for a B Golfer was Tom with a 50. Low round for an A Golfer was Jon (a sub) with a 41. Congratulations for all.Now for some personal stuff in the golf league. My low league round was a 54 which I shot twice. On the final hole (18 back 9) on the final day I got a par. I parred a couple other of the par four holes. I parred 14 twice. I parred both of the par threes on the front 9. I did not par either of the par threes on the back 9. I did not par any of the par five. I did not birdie a single hole.I still think Thornapple is too long for most B flight golfers to come anywhere close to par on most holes and most of the male golfers in flight B would probably object to palying from the red tees as those are the “women’s tees” and it would bruise their fragile male egos to do that. For that reason, I plan to lobby Brad and Alan to go to another course that has Gold Tees so the flight B golfers can tee off behind the “women’s tees” but still play from a closer tee. I don’t like the possible solution proposed next year for B golfers to use the A golfer’s tee shot. The main reason for my dislike it is the suggestion will artifically lower scores and mess up my tracking of my game for improvement. Some final thoughts. I realy improved this year from the beginning of last year. My golfsuite handicap index is 40.4 and my traditional handicap indes is 39.6. If I took my league handicap from the beginning of last year and doubled it my hanidcap for last year would have been 64. That is an improvement of 24 strokes in 2 seasons. I think that is pretty good. I took the philosphy to not get new clubs last year but to lear to play the ones I have better. I say a $500.00 driver will not fix a $10.00 swing. With all that said, this will pretty much be the wind up of this blog for 2007. There will be other entries but they will not be weekly. I have a review to write for Strike and Swipe and will be playing one or two new courses next week so I will review those. I hope those who read this enjoyed it. See ya on the back 9!

Hello Folks! Results are in for the last 3 weeks — 8/1/2007, 8/8/2007, and 8/15/2007. On 8/1/2007, I shot a 60 which is not really a great round for me. However, Brad and I hung on to 1st place. Here are the results.1st Place: Brad and Ron2nd Place: Bill and Geno
3rd Place: Shawn and Neva
4th Place: Alan and John
5th Place: Sebbe and Kim
6th Place: Bruce and Chuck
7th Place: Cindy and Jamaal
8th Place: Kristin and Tom
On the 8th of August, I shot my worst round of the year a 65. Again, Brad and I held on to 1st place. This would be 5 or 6 weeks in a row for Brad and I to take the top spot. Here are the results for 8/8/2007 1st Place: Brad and Ron2nd Place: Bill and Geno
3rd Place: Shawn and Neva
4th Place: Cindy and Jamaal
5th Place: Alan and John
6th Place: Sebbe and Kim
7th Place: Bruce and Chuck
8th Place: Kristin and Tom
Finally, 8/15/2007 came and Brad was back. I shot a 56 which was the best I had shot in about a month. Brad and I fell from first place after holding it the entire 2nd half of the year. Here are the results from 8/15/2007.1st Place: Shawn and Neva2nd Place: Brad and Ron
3rd Place: Alan and John
4th Place: Bill and Geno

Hello Again! I am sorry about the delay in getting this posted. Brad is back but at this time has not generated any results from the weeks he was not here. If you have been following this saga, you know this league was scheduled to be 18 weeks with 16 weeks of team and invidual competition and 2 weeks of tournaments or some such thing. You know that a few weeks ago we had a “free” day due to a lot of subs and no handicaps for them. At this time, this is the 16th and final week of team competition but it is the 17th week of the 18. Hopefully, I will be able to have some results for you this week. For now, here is the schedule:Team 8 vs Team 3Team 2 vs. Team 1
Team 4 vs Team 7
Team 6 vs. Team 5
This week’s round will be played on the front 9 at Thornapple.

Hello again. Here it is about 2:10 pm. and we have no results for last week because my partner Brad is out of town and missed last week except for my own. I shot a rather interesting 60 last week while my opponent Tom shot a 59. Between the two of us we put on a text book display of how to mess up every part of the golf game. The reason my round was interesting is I hit 5 of 7 fairways and averaged about 205 yards a drive and I only used 16 putts. Adding the 16 puts to the 9 tee shots and subtracting that from my total score means it took 35 shots to get from where my tee shot landed to get on to the green. That was pretty pathetic and pretty inconsistant way to play from the fairway. What was so wierd about it was on one of the holes I hit my 5th shot from 110 yards fat and into the lake and then hit a sand wedge from 65 yard to a foot and one putted for an 8. Anyway, I will endeavor to play better this week. Here is the schedule for week 15 at Thornapple on the back 9.Team 2 vs Team 7
Team 5 vs Team 4
Team 3 vs Team 6
Team 8 vs Team 1
See ya on the back 9

Hello again! As you know, last week was a “free” or open week. So while we played, none of the results counted in the league play. With that in mind, I made a club change. If you have been reading this blog all along, you will remember I have been playing with clubs the average age of which being 20 years old. That is the case with my 3 and 5 woods. Until last week. About a month ago, I broke my Dunlop driver in a freak accident on the driving range. I purchased a Ram FX high trajectory low spin driver and put it into play. Last week, I bought the Ram FX 5 wood and put it into play last week. The face on my new 5 wood is bigger than the face on the three wood and I hit it pretty well both last week and at the range this week. I am now looking for the Ram FX 3 wood.
While last week was a “free” or open week, I treated it pretty much the same as a league week for purposes of my handicap. In addition to my league handicap, I am a member of Golfsuite. One of the features of Golfsuite is it offeres a free handicap index program. While not a USGA handicap index, it has 2 features I like. One of these is the handicap index takes into account the courses. That means if I play 4 courses regularly through out the year not only do I get a handicap for all courses but I can generate a handicap for each individual course I play, a handicap for each tee option and handicaps for both 9 and 18 holes for each tee option. The second feature is it is free. This is of course my favorite price. I use this handicap to track my improvement. Last year, my league handicap was 32 for most of the year and droped to 29 by the end of the year. Since the league handicap is only for 9 holes you must double it for 18. I did that and added a .0 to the end to generate a handicap index. Last year my handicap went from 64.0 to 58.0 during the league over an 18 hole round. To translate that into an 18 hole score you add par for the course you are playing to the handicap. So my average 18 hole score went from 136 to 130 last year. This was an improvement of 6 stokes. Currently my handicap index is 39.7. Rounding that up to 40 and adding it to 72 (the par for all the courses I play) means that my average 18 hole score would be 112 which is an improvement of 24 stokes since the start of the league last year and an improvement of 18 stokes since the end of the league last year.
There is another thing I want to tell you about before I talk about the schedule for this week. About 2 to 2 1/2 months ago, I received an invitation to join the PGA Tour Partners’ Club. I joined. One of the reasons I joined is the members get to field test new golf stuff and keep it. I just recieved my first product last week and am doing my field test. The stuff I am testing is a thing called “Strike and Swipe”. This is reusable impact tape. It was one of the products on the new Golf Channel Show “Fore Inventors Only”. Made for all types of clubs, i am testing the putter stips. When I am finished testing it, I will give it a review here.
This is the 14th week of the league and the schedule for this week is
Team 7 vs Team 1
Team 8 vs Team 6
Team 4 vs Team 3
Team 2 vs Team 5.
This week’s round will be on the front nine at Thornapple.See ya on the back 9!
