Golf League — Week 13 Results

Well, the powers that be decided that this is a week we should make up one of the 2 weeks we missed.  This is fine with me as I had not made it to the driveing range this week and we have been given an open week.  This will allow me to use this as a practice round.  I want to work on a couple things — course management and swing tempo.

We do have the results from last week and again Brad and I held on to first place in the second half of the season.  While I had another mediocre round, I did manage to split with Chuck.  Here are the results:

1st Place:  Brad and I

2nd Place: Bill and Geno

3rd Place:  Alan and John

4th Place:  Bruce and Chuck

5th Place:  Shawn and Neva

6th Place:  Sebbe and Kim

7th Place:  Cindy and Jamal

8th Place:  Kristin and Tom

Since this is an open week there are no matches scheduled.

Golf League — Week 12 Results and Week 13 Schedule

We are now back on schedule with the reports.  Yeah!  I almost titled this “What a Difference a Week Makes” but wanted to be consistent with the update theme.  Last week Brad and I attempted to hold onto our first place position in the golf league for the third week in a row.

As I said in the last installment, Jamal was not going to be there and his place was going to be taken by Shawn’s brother Tim who had to give me 8 strokes.  I thought if I played well I had a shot at picking up some points.  Well,  I played rather poorly shooting a 61.  Fortunately Tim shot rather poorly only beating me by one stroke.  With the 8 shots I picked up in handicap I took 16 of 18 points and we won the match and retained our grip on first place.

So, after 3 weeks of the second half the standings are:1st Place:  Brad and Ron

2nd Place:  Bill and Geno 3rd Place:  Bruce and Chuck

4th Place:  Shawn and Neva

5th Place:  Alan and John

6th Place:  Cindy and Jamal

7th Place:  Sebbe and Kim

8th Place:  Kristin and Tom.

The schedule for this week (week 13) is

Team 1 vs Team 6 Team 7 vs Team 5

Team 2 vs Team 3

Team 4 vs Team 8

Week 13 will be played on the front 9 at Thorn Apple.

See ya on the back (front) nine!

Golf League — Week 11 Results and Week 12 Schedule

Week 11 results are in.  Brad and I decided to see if we could hold on to our 1st place standing in week 2.  We had to take on Bill and Geno who were in second.  We did and we won.  I ended up shooting my lowest round of the year and tieing for the lowest round in B flight.   Here are the results:

1st Place — Brad and Ron

2nd Place — Alan and John

3rd Place — Bill and Geno

4th Place — Bruce and Chuck

5th Place — Cindy and Jamal

6th Place — Shawn and Neva

7th Place — Kristin and Tom

8th Place — Sebbe and Kim

This weeks schedule is

Team 1 vs Team 5

Team 2 vs Team 8

Team 6 vs Team 4

Team 7 vs Team 3

See ya on the back 9!

Hello.  The results from 6/20/2007 are finally in.  As I noted in my last installment Brad was not here for the 6/20/2007 league round and Geno’s brother in law Jon subbed for brad and shot a 41.  We took 43 points for the week and lept out to a 4 point lead in the second half of the year.  After this week the standings are

1st Place — Brad and Ron

2nd Place — Bill and Geno

3rd Place — Alan and John

4th Place — Shawn and Neva

5th Place — Cindy and Jamal

6th Place — Bruce and Chuck

Golf Outing and Picnic

Hello!  A funny thing happened on the way to the golf outing.  Our dog decided to get sick and my wife decided to stay home.  So, I hopped into my car and drove to Deer Creek State Park by myself.  When I arrived at the course and went to check in and tell the folks about Patty not being there, one of the folks there told me a team was short one player and I could join them if I wanted.  When the team captain happened to be Brad my golf league partner, I decided to join up with him and his two friends.  Unlike the Golf league where there is a contest between two golfers of either A or B flight, this was a scramble where every body hit and the team picked the best shot.  Everyone else picked up their balls and went to the shot selected and hit again.  This process repeated until the ball was in the hole.  Well, the four of us shot a very nice round of 2 under par.   That round tied us for second place sincs the team of Geno, his brother in law and 2 of their friends shot an amazing round of 7 under par to finish in first place.  Brad’s team finished second and I got to bring home a trophy and some prizes. After golf, everyone met at the dining area where a wonderful cater meal waited.  After eating and drinking our fill, the trophies and other prizes were handed out and the party continued full force into late in the evening.  As usual, everyone had a wonderful time.
